The 64th Logie Awards were held again this year at The Star Sydney, with all of Australia's biggest names hitting the red carpet ahead of the star-studded ceremony. Everyone's favourite celebs from The Block, Dancing with the Stars and Home and Away were in attendance, but there were also a few absentees.
The Australian version of “Married at First Sight,” which is nominated for best structured reality program, is hosted by experts John Aiken and Alessandra Rampolla and was conspicuous by the absence of fan favorite Mel Schilling. The relationship experts told Yahoo Lifestyle that her absence was a planned choice and in no way meant as an insult to either party.
Mel Schilling explains Logies' absence
“This year I have decided to prioritise my health and family,” Mel said. “Although I love The Logies and really hope to win an award this time, I have decided to remain on the Gold Coast with Gareth and Maddie to fully recover and be in top form for MAFS Australia season 12.”

Mel has been open about her battle with bowel cancer, announcing it on Instagram late last year, telling Yahoo Lifestyle that she suffered “severe stomach cramps” while filming season 11 of MAFS and was “curled up in pain” for the entire shoot.

“I was curled up in pain at the reunion dinner party and then I was smiling and trying to get through the pain throughout the reunion filming,” she said. “I didn't know what it was and just thought it was jet lag, which it really was. I thought I was just working too much. I wasn't taking care of myself properly because of all the travelling. I didn't think there was anything else to it.”

Mel had surgery to remove the tumour and finished chemotherapy two weeks ago.
MAFS 2024 star won't be joining the Logies
Despite being one of Australia's most-watched television shows, multiple reports have said that none of the cast members of “Married At First Sight” will be attending.
One Season 11 contestant told Yahoo Lifestyle that they think it's “weird” that no one from their season will be in attendance, especially considering how many contestants have walked the red carpet over the past few years.
“It would have been fun and we're glad we went,” they said. “It's a shame, but we understand the decision since there were fewer guests this year. It's not that big of an issue.”
MAFS 2025: What to expect

MAFS 2025 is already shaping up to be just as dramatic as seasons past, with one bride and groom going on a blind date after dating in real life, a former reality TV star joining the cast to give love another shot, one bride-to-be already being spotted living on her own, and a last-minute replacement cast member being scrambled to find one.
A source recently told Yahoo Lifestyle that Channel Nine is considering introducing security to MAFS dinner parties after two couples “got up and nearly got into a fist fight” in the first week. The source added that some of the cast members told production they felt unsafe and “if they hadn't been separated they would have gotten into a fist fight.”
I can't wait any longer. Please do it quickly.
