An unusual incident occurred at the airport of Ponta Delgada in the Azores. More than 100 hamsters were scattered on top of one of the planes. The plane could not fly to the capital of Portugal for five days.
After arriving at John Paul II Airport in Ponta Delgada, the crew was informed that they could not return to the Portuguese capital, Lisbon. It turned out that the toilet boxes were destroyed in the luggage compartment and the animals were scattered. The search for the rodents continued for five days, it was reported on Monday.
There was a risk that animals would chew through the cables
In total, according to the carrier, 132 hamsters were transported by Airbus A321neo. Staying inside the car, they threatened the safety of the return flight. For example, animals can chew through electrical cables.
Information from the passenger company TAP shows that the cargo, in addition to hamsters, also included: ferrets and domestic birds, which were ordered from one of the pet stores in Ponta Delgada. TAP is Portugal's largest passenger carrier.
