On December 22nd, a young boy with a passion for motorsports was involved in an accident at a kart track in Swarmen, in the southeastern part of the Netherlands.
Local media reported that a seven-year-old boy racing minibikes suffered serious head and facial injuries during training.

The boy was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Within days, Sid underwent several surgeries, including brain surgery. Meanwhile, the boy’s father reported that the swelling in his son’s brain was decreasing.
Unfortunately, despite the efforts of doctors, it was not possible to save the child. The boy’s death was announced over the weekend.

“Sid fought like a lion, but he could not win because it was an unequal battle,” the father of 7-year-old Sid said on Sunday.
Sid Beijer was considered a great motorsport talent in the Netherlands. In October 2024, a few weeks before the accident, he became the Dutch champion of the minibike junior A class race.

The 7-year-old is a cousin of former Moto3 motorcyclist Colin Bager, and will be competing in Moto2 from the new season. The player posted a touching entry on social media dedicated to his relatives.
“You fought with all your might, but you could not win this tough and difficult battle. I am so proud to be your cousin and even though we were not together much, we were able to I will never forget the moments spent. I will never forget you, you motivate me to fight as hard as you, Sid,” he wrote on Instagram.
