The person believed to be responsible for the New Orleans attack has died, CNN reported. Data provided by police shows it was a carefully planned act. Officers searched the car the man drove into the crowd.
The incident occurred Wednesday morning on Bourbon Street in a popular New Orleans neighborhood. Witnesses who spoke to the media said the vehicle crashed into people at high speed, before the driver got out and pointed a gun at the crowd. The police fired back.

According to information provided by CNN, the man has already died. The FBI and police searched his car to secure evidence and determine a motive. Officers said the attack was carefully considered and planned.
Police with assistance from the FBI are on the scene. Federal agents found explosives at the scene. “We found an improvised explosive device and are trying to determine if it is a potentially explosive device,” said Alecia Duncan of the FBI in New Orleans.
At least 10 people were killed and another 35 injured. New Orleans’ police chief said most of the injured were local residents, not tourists. He added that the driver intentionally tried to run over as many people as possible. “He was determined to commit a massacre,” Anne Kirkpatrick said at a news conference.

President Joe Biden was briefed on the incident early Wednesday morning. “The White House has reached out to Mayor Cantrell of New Orleans to offer his assistance. The FBI is on scene assisting local law enforcement with their investigation and the President will be kept updated on any updates,” the White House said in a statement.
