The military base in Redzikovo, Pomerania is fully operational. On Wednesday, the opening ceremony of the US anti-missile base was held, which was attended by WP reporter Tomasz Walenski. The agreement on the deployment of anti-ballistic defense devices in Poland was signed in 2008. The actual construction in Redzikovo started after 8 years and on November 13 it was officially opened for service in NATO formations. – We welcome the American soldiers in Poland as great friends and we are glad that the United States has placed another military infrastructure on our territory – said President Andrzej Duda during the ceremony. The opening of the base is a symbolic moment for Poland. It is part of the so-called anti-missile shield, which aims to protect Europe from possible missile threats. During his speech, Andrzej Duda also noted that Poland currently buys weapons from the US on the largest scale in the entire North Atlantic Treaty Organization. He mentioned HIMARS missiles, the Patriot missile defense system, F-35 fighters and ABRAMS tanks.
