A dramatic accident that occurred in Manhattan, New York. The taxi driver veered off the road and struck a pedestrian who was walking on the sidewalk. Seven people were injured, including a 9-year-old child.
The accident occurred in front of the famous Macy's department store in Herald Square at 6th Avenue and 34th Street.
A 58-year-old taxi driver ran off the road onto the sidewalk and struck a pedestrian. In addition to the driver, seven people were injured: a 9-year-old boy, two 49-year-old women, and three women aged 19, 37, and 41, police said.

Three people, the boy, his mother and a woman, were taken to the hospital. The remaining three women refused treatment.

According to NBC News, the boy and his mother are tourists from Australia. The New York Post reported that a woman and child were crushed under the car. A passerby came to their aid, hailed a taxi and helped them get free.
Police are still investigating the cause of the accident, but current findings indicate it was an accident. The taxi driver may have passed out while still holding the steering wheel.

American media recalled that the incident occurred just days after the attack on the Christmas market in Magdeburg, Germany, in which a driver drove his car into a crowd, killing five people and injuring more than 200.
