A severe weather event that had been announced for several days hit Norway on Monday night. Several planes were grounded at Bergen Airport due to storms, high winds and snowstorms. Norway’s main airport, Oslo Gardermoen, remains operational, but all flights departed on Monday with delays of up to two hours. Many domestic flights were canceled.
Bus services were suspended in the city of Stavanger, and police stopped ferries connecting the city with nearby islands at the port. Buses in the metropolitan area were delayed by at least 40 minutes on Monday night. Some courses were canceled on Tuesday.

Road crews have closed many motor vehicle routes, including the most important routes. Shuttle snow convoys have been introduced between Bergen and Oslo. Drivers can only follow the snowplow.
Railway companies plan to maintain communications on all lines, but will ensure the number of trains is cut by at least half.

Norwegian broadcaster NRK reported that up to 50 centimeters of snow was expected in Norway’s capital, Oslo.
The Norwegian Meteorological Institute has issued an orange weather warning, saying a higher risk of snowfall could be announced at any time. A “24-hour operation center” has been set up to continuously monitor the situation.

Authorities urged travelers who need to use buses, trams and subways on Monday and Tuesday to allow enough time for commuting. Some companies and schools have decided to work and learn remotely.
