SparkCharge Charging as a Service is now up and running.
Pioneer Power Solutions Co., Ltd. has formed a strategic partnership with SparkCharge Inc., an electric vehicle charging and delivery service company. Through this partnership, Pioneer's off-grid, sustainable mobile EV charging solution, e-Boost, will be integrated into SparkCharge's mobile battery energy storage system.
The collaboration combines Pioneer's e-Boost with SparkCharge's EV Charging as a Service (CaaS) model to accelerate the adoption of mobile EV charging with battery energy storage. Together, the two companies aim to bring new value to the mobile EV charging market and accelerate technological advancements in the industry.
Pioneer has initially agreed to deliver up to 12 e-Boost rental units over a 12-month period beginning in the fourth quarter of 2024. Under the terms of the agreement, Pioneer will receive a monthly rental fee plus a per-kilowatt-hour usage fee.
Pioneer and SparkCharge have also agreed to bring to market new units that combine the on-site generation and power density of Pioneer's e-Boost platform with SparkCharge's zero-emission, grid-free mobile battery technology. Pioneer and SparkCharge plan to jointly market the platform to certain large fleet customers and offer customers integrated, power-dense charging as a service.
“By integrating our technology with Pioneer's e-Boost technology, we are making a major step forward in the mobile EV charging industry,” said Joshua Aviv, founder and CEO of SparkCharge. “This collaboration not only strengthens our EV charging service model, but also accelerates our shared vision of a more accessible and sustainable future for electric vehicle charging.”
The partnership will leverage Pioneer's expertise in energy distribution and microgrid solutions to deploy the first mobile distributed energy resources (mDER) to enhance edge-to-grid capabilities.
Pioneer expects this mDER offering to be especially effective for large-scale customers seeking long-term, affordable and sustainable energy resiliency. Additionally, the benefits of this solution are expected to extend to rural, underserved and disaster recovery communities, where access to reliable and resilient energy is essential. Pioneer believes this is a breakthrough solution that will dramatically accelerate the timeline for EV adoption.
“The partnership between e-Boost and SparkCharge demonstrates our ongoing commitment to providing best-in-class solutions that empower our customers and support our shared vision of advancing the EV industry through innovation and collaboration,” added Geo Murickan, president of Pioneer eMobility. “Together, we are not only addressing current market needs but also shaping the technology future of mobile EV charging.”
