President Andrzej Duda wonders “if someone tries to spoil the result of the presidential election in Poland, depending on what it will be.” In an interview with “Republika” TV, he asked citizens to participate in the elections. Then – as he said – it will be difficult to doubt their results.
On Friday, President Andrzej Duda was asked on “Republika” TV about speculations about the possibility of questioning the results of this year’s presidential elections. – Remember that these are the people who not only accepted the previous presidential elections, but above all most of them gladly accepted the results of the last parliamentary elections approved by this chamber, – he said about the government.
The president said that the question is whether someone will try to spoil the result of the Polish presidential election, depending on what it will be. – If he meets certain circles, he will not be questioned, but if he does not meet (…), then perhaps these choices will be questioned – he said.
Presidential elections will be held on May 18. If necessary, their second round will be held on June 1.

Duda: a great loss for Poland that the summit will not be held in Poland
The president was asked whether the government informed him why the European Union summit will not be held in Poland. – I have not received such information. I can only smile, right? It is regrettable, because I think it is a great loss for Poland that it will not be held in Poland, said Duda.
As he said, every country that holds the presidency organizes a meeting within itself, because it is a kind of presentation of the country, which emphasizes the aspect of the presidency in a year, and in this conference leaders, key leaders and members of the organization participate. – From this point of view, the decision of the prime minister is surprising. But such a game is played by the Prime Minister and the European Commission, the president said.

In the conversation on Friday, the president also emphasized that the European Union is a platform for cooperation between national states, where each state must maintain its sovereignty. He added that cooperation within the framework of the European Union should focus primarily on economic issues.
Duda noted that he also strongly emphasizes that Europe knows that a good cooperation with the United States is of fundamental importance for its future and prosperity. – This is a fact that has been historically confirmed for at least a hundred years, he said.
Duda: Europe and the US should cooperate on fundamental issues
– There is competition even in the most favorable conditions. There is and will be competition between Europe and the United States. It is about cooperation on fundamental issues and finding solutions for the benefit of both sides, said Andrzej Duda.
He added that there is no doubt that close cooperation with the United States and the strengthening of Euro-Atlantic relations at the global level will benefit both Europe and the United States. – However, it must be balanced and implemented on fair terms – he stressed, referring to the announcement of the president-elect of the United States on the tightening of the trade policy towards the European Union.

Duda noted that Trump treats politics like a business. – He looks pragmatically, realistically and very strictly. He is not looking for political correctness, he talks about the things that politicians, especially the big countries of Western Europe, want to hear, he noted.
Duda also assessed that Trump was right in his first term to criticize NATO allies who did not fulfill their alliance obligations in terms of defense spending.
– I myself heard at the NATO meetings that President Trump, when presenting detailed information, indicated the issue of defense spending in certain European countries and allies, and here he really made very strict demands and presented a very simple reason: why the American taxpayer should keep to be security in a country that is one of the richest European countries (…) that did not pay for its defense and it is done at the expense of the American taxpayer, – said Duda, but refused to answer, was it Germany? .
