Mariusz Blaszczak, head of the Law and Justice parliamentary club, said on Wednesday evening that the PiS presidential candidate has not been chosen yet. He expressed confidence that this decision will be made on the eve of November and December.
On Wednesday evening, a conversation with Blaszczak was published on the profile of Law and Justice on the X platform.
The head of the PiS club was asked, among other things, about the party's presidential candidate. Blaszczak said he would not say who the PiS candidate is. – For one simple reason – this candidate has not been elected yet, consultations are ongoing, – he added.
– No decision has been made. (…) I believe that such a decision will be made on the eve of November and December, – said the head of the PiS club.
Earlier on Wednesday, PiS sources reported that the party's top authorities could decide within a few hours who will be the party's presidential candidate, and the candidate's presentation could take place on Saturday.
PiS MP Ryszard Terlecki said on Polsat News on Wednesday that “a choice is currently being made between two names.” “We are talking about Przemysław Charnek and Karol Nawrocki,” he added. He also noted that there are always surprises in such circumstances.
On Tuesday, PiS leader Jarosław Kaczynski said during a press conference that PiS will probably make a decision without knowing who the KO candidate for the presidency will be. The KO candidate was announced on Saturday after Friday's primaries, which will pit Warsaw Mayor Rafal Trzaszkowski against Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski.
