On Wednesday evening, the Fire Department of Greater Poland was informed about the smell of sulfur in the operating room of Puszczykowo Hospital. Initially, 13 fire brigades, including a special chemical rescue team, were mobilized into the operation. 20 people were evacuated. The firefighting operation ended around 11 p.m.
The duty officer of the Greater Poland Fire Brigade said that the service received the report on Wednesday before 18:00.
– We received information from the emergency notification center about the smell of sulfur in the operating room. Even before the arrival of our teams, 17 people, including three patients, were evacuated from the ward, he said. He added that 13 firefighting units, including a special chemical rescue team, were mobilized to the scene. In the evening, the duty officer of the Greater Poland Fire Brigade said that there were still 8 units at the scene. The chemical rescue team also works regularly.

– One of our devices has detected something offensive, but at the moment we cannot accurately assess what it is and where it may have come from. From an organoleptic point of view, we still confirm the smell of sulfur, – said the official.
He also emphasized that it is currently unknown how long the operation of the guard will continue in the hospital. But he emphasized that “there is no news about the expansion of this threat”.
Later, the duty officer informed that the activities in this area ended on Wednesday around 11 pm.
A few days ago, on Saturday (November 9), a fire broke out in Pushchikovo hospital. According to fire officials at the time, the source of the fire was in the basement of the building next to the palliative care unit. Five people were injured – four suffered from smoke inhalation, one was injured and 36 were evacuated.
