This is the highest price ever sold for Titanic memorabilia. The previous record was set in April, when a watch belonging to the ship's richest passenger, John Jacob Astor, sold for £1.175 million (just over 6 million zlotys).
This record has been held for 11 years by the violin played by the orchestra at the time of the earthquake. In 2013, it was sold for 1.1 million pounds (approximately 5.7 million zlotys).
