In January, the mother of a 7-year-old patient accused a 68-year-old doctor of making inappropriate comments about the war in Ukraine. Anastasia Akinshina's husband, a Russian soldier, died in Kiev. Nadezhda Buyanova claims, among other things, that “it was a legitimate target” and that “Russia is responsible for the ongoing war.”
The court sentenced the doctor. She spoke 'badly' about the Ukraine war
Akinshina recorded and shared a video defaming the doctor. She made the incident public and insisted that she would not “keep this incident in the dark.” The incident quickly attracted the attention of pro-Kremlin media. The head of the Russian Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, has promised to personally coordinate activities in the case.
In February, Nadezhda Buyanova was arrested and charged with “spreading false information about the Russian military.” After a short period of house arrest, she was placed in pretrial detention awaiting trial.

On Tuesday, the doctor was sentenced to five and a half years in prison. – It's absurd, just absurd. She said she couldn't understand what was happening to her, as quoted by the BBC.
After the Russian court's verdict, a tearful Buyanova said she was innocent. She stressed that she had not told the boy's mother or the 7-year-old boy about the war. Furthermore, there is no evidence in this case other than this family's testimony.
The doctor's defense argued that the 68-year-old woman was targeted because of her roots. That's because Bujanova, who has lived and worked in Moscow for years, is Ukrainian. She was born in Lviv. – The sentence is very harsh. This was not expected, even considering what is currently happening in Russia, admitted the doctor's lawyer Oskar Cherzhev.
Russia is putting pressure on its people. they even fear their families
Since the escalation of President Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine, which began in February 2022, the Russian government has been very quick to suppress any reports regarding its views on the war. Laws prohibiting the dissemination of false information about the military have been introduced and are strictly enforced. Russia has sentenced all those who criticized the attack on Ukraine in any way to years in a penal colony.

Experts stress that the state has created so much pressure and fear among its citizens that many people are afraid to talk about the war, even with neighbors and family members. In some situations, it was the closest relative who reported the 'inappropriate' views to the service.
Bujanova's case was widely condemned by human rights groups. The memorial organization put Bujanova on its list of political prisoners, and a group of Russian doctors wrote an open letter in his defense.
