A Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson said the Redykovo anti-missile defense base is a priority and a potential target for Russian Federation forces. Marija Zakharova also said that US infrastructure development in Poland was a “provocative step” that would lead to “the destruction of strategic stability”.
On November 13, an American anti-missile defense base was opened in Redikovo. It is part of the US and NATO security infrastructure. “Its construction proves the geopolitical importance of the United States,” said Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, a Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson said opening the base would lead to an increase in the nuclear threat. Maria Zakharova said at a press conference that this is another openly provocative step in a series of deeply destabilizing actions by the Americans and their allies in the North Atlantic Alliance in the strategic field.
“This objectively leads to a loss of strategic stability,” she added.

The purpose of the shield, Zakharova said, is to “deploy U.S. forces thousands of kilometers away from U.S. territory in order to put strong pressure on Russia and other nuclear powers.”
“This naturally leads to an increase in strategic risks and, as a result, an increase in the overall level of nuclear threats,” a Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson said.

TASS quoted Zakharova as saying that the spokeswoman had described the missile base as a priority and potential target for the Russian military.

The base in Ledikovo, Pomerania, is part of the US anti-ballistic system that protects medium- and intermediate-range missiles as part of Aegis Ashore, the ground component of NATO's anti-ballistic protection.
