– We must do everything so that Europe does not forget Ukraine, – emphasized the member of the parliament Joanna Scheuring-Wielgus (from the new left) in “Facti po Factach”. Together with MEP Michal Kobosko (Poland 2050), he also explained the German Chancellor's phone conversation with Vladimir Putin and US President Joe Biden's approval of the Ukrainians to use US-provided long-range missiles to strike deep inside Russia.
On Saturday night, Russia attacked Ukraine using ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and drones. These missiles were launched by the Air Force and from Navy ships in the Black Sea. – Drones and missiles to civilian cities, civilians, critical infrastructure. This is a real response of the war criminal Putin to all those who called and visited him recently, explained the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Andrey Sibiha.
Member of the European Parliament Joanna Schering-Wilgus (new left) admitted that she hopes that “nothing terrible will happen in Ukraine in the coming weeks.” He mentioned that a thousand days have passed since Russia's large-scale aggression and added that he will meet with Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of the Republic of Ukraine in Brussels in the coming days.
– We must do everything so that Europe does not forget Ukraine, – he emphasized. – Unfortunately, sometimes I hear, especially from our partners from Western Europe, that we talk too much about Ukraine and give too much help. And we, like all delegations of Poland, among the divisions, speak with one voice on this topic: we must help Ukraine, support Ukraine, he said. – And nothing can happen to solve this terrible war behind Ukraine. It was not possible for someone to “arrange” peace behind the backs of Ukrainians, he stressed.
Kobosko about Scholz: trying to “shine”.
On Friday, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz had a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Steffen Hebestreit, the spokesman of the German government, said that Scholz asked the Russian president to end the war and demanded the withdrawal of Russian troops from the territory of Ukraine. Scholz also allegedly emphasized Germany's continued support for Ukraine.
Michal Kobosko (Poland 2050) assessed the conversation of the German chancellor as “absurd”. – Scholz is the person who will end his service as the chancellor of Germany. There are elections in February and – everything today indicates that – his party has no chance to form the next government, so at the end of his reign he will try to shine somehow, in conclusion. He makes the kind of call that really gives Putin the feeling of being in the game, but gives nothing to Scholz, so it's a very logical and clear criticism of such an action, he said.
He noted that shortly after this conversation, the Russians launched a large-scale attack on Ukraine. – The Russians have been methodically destroying the energy infrastructure of Ukraine for many months, so that Ukrainians will be fed up with everything this winter, when they do not have electricity, – he said.
Biden's decision
US President Joe Biden has given Ukraine the green light to use US-supplied long-range weapons to strike deep inside Russia, US media reported on Sunday.
“I would like to say one thing: in the end,” Kobosko said, noting that “this is not a fantastic solution that will clearly tip the scales of this war.” – This decision is necessary, it should have been made a few months ago, because Russia no longer has any explanations for its actions, he added.
