A driver who almost collided head-on with a police car in the city of Szamotuly (Greater Poland Voivodeship) was fined PLN 1,500. The policeman braked hard and went to the side of the road.
On December 30, after 5:00 p.m., Szamotuli police officers were driving an unmarked police car when a car coming from the opposite direction suddenly overtook them. The car ran straight into the police car, whose driver immediately braked and moved to the side of the road to avoid a head-on collision.
After some time, the driver of the police car turned back and stopped the driver who almost caused an accident a moment ago.
– The police officers were punished against the driver of the Renault car who was not careful while passing, – says Senior Practitioner Sandra Chuda, press officer of Samotuli police.
High mandate
A 24-year-old resident of Kostian district was fined PLN 1,500 and 10 points.
– We remember that mistakes cannot be made during the previous maneuver and irresponsible behavior will lead to tragedy. When starting a forward maneuver, we need to be sure that it will be safe. Let’s also make sure that we are allowed to pass where we were, if we have full visibility and if there is no car coming from the opposite side. If we are not sure whether we can perform the maneuver on time or not, it is better to wait for a better opportunity, says Chuda.
