Olek and Basia are the protagonists of the photo exhibition “Mr. and Mrs. Klushechka”, which shows how their friendship developed during the fight against leukemia. – One day, Olek asked Basia if she would be his bride. He answered: yes, my Klyusechka. From that moment they called each other “Klyushechka”. This is how their story began – recalled the boy’s mother, Paulina Obzeita.

When they could not be together, they looked at each other through the door of the hospital
He recalled that there was a time when children “had a hard time communicating with each other”. After that, Olek remained alone for nine months.
– But we used instant messaging. He was also knocking on the door and wall of the hospital. One of them was waiting for the other as soon as they appeared in the corridor, so that they could talk to each other at least visually, at least for a moment, – she said.
Basia has already left the hospital, but she still sees Olek. – We celebrate birthdays and go on holidays together. We are also looking forward to some adventures together, like to the playroom. Cinema, of course, was already included. Let’s meet when time allows, said the boy’s mother.
He also noted that the help of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity can be seen at the hospital “every step of the way”. These are devices that monitor patients’ vital functions and chairs where parents can sleep while watching their children.

“We are taming cancer in children because the cure rate is so high”
Organizers of the exhibition are Dr. Malgorzata Savicka-Zhukovska, head of the department of pediatrics, oncology and hematology of the Białystok University Children’s Clinical Hospital, and Magdalena Topczewska, who took the photos.
– We always say that we are familiar with children’s oncology and children’s cancer, because the rate of treatment is very high. And I think that this exhibition prepared by Magda is proof of this. “Mr. and Mrs. Klusečka”, Olus and Barbara, are a truly unique couple, and anyone who has met them at least once knows that this exhibition says everything about them, Dr. Savicka-Zhukovska emphasized.
In addition to this exhibition, the book of Dr. Savicka-Zhukovska entitled “The story of the Klyusechkov family. Olek and Barbara, a couple in love.”
