A 49-year-old man, who got behind the wheel with more than two permils on his body, is threatened with up to three years in prison. He never had a driver’s license and drove to buy alcohol.
On Monday, January 13, around 8:40 p.m., the officer on duty at the Siekhanov police station received a report that a witness caught a drunk driver on the national road #50 in Baby.
– The reporter’s attention was drawn to a man who had trouble keeping his balance, was stunned, and in this case sat behind the wheel of an “Opel” car and drove the car. the witness did not remain indifferent and followed him. He stopped the driver in Baby and prevented him from driving again. He then called police and stayed with the driver until officers arrived, Asp said. Magda Sakowska from the police in Siekhanov.

No driver’s license, but with a blood alcohol level
A 49-year-old resident of Siekhanov district was behind the wheel of the Opel car. A breathalyzer test showed more than two parts per million of alcohol in the man’s body. After checking the police records, it was found that the 49-year-old man never had a driver’s license. He explained to the police that he was buying alcohol.
He was taken into police custody, and after he sobered up, he was charged with driving while intoxicated. For the crime he committed, he will be sentenced to three years in prison, a heavy fine and disqualification from driving. He will also be charged with driving without a license.
– An exemplary attitude and the attitude of the witnesses to the incident may have prevented the tragedy. Let’s remember: even anonymous information given to the police that someone was driving under the influence of alcohol can save someone’s life – adds Asp. Magda Sakowska.
