Officers from the Dallas, Texas Police Department made one kindergartener's first day of elementary school special.
Before the bell rang, Nico de la Rocha was escorted into the hallway by paramedics.
Officers shared photos from the special day on Facebook and wished Nico the most amazing year yet.

“And then he was off!” the post read. It was a special morning as we dropped off Corporal José de la Rocha's son on his first day of school.

Senior Corporal Jose de la Rocha passed away last August.
“Senior Corporal Jose de la Rocha served with the Dallas Police Department for 14 years,” a Dallas Police spokesperson told Fox News Digital in an email.

According to the Dallas, Texas-based Brotherhood of Fallen Officers, which is accepting donations to support the families of fallen police officers, Jose de la Rocha experienced a medical emergency while at home with his family and died.

“Jose was born in Dallas (Oak Cliff), Texas, and after graduating from high school went on to study at the University of North Texas. He had a big heart and an infectious smile. He wanted to give back to his hometown and serve its residents,” the site reported.
Police officers and emergency medical personnel were seen outside the school taking photos and walking Nico to her classroom.

Nico was wearing neon green sneakers and a black T-shirt that read, “First Day of Kindergarten 2024,” and was smiling broadly.

Nico's mother, Adriana de la Rocha, was also in attendance for the memorable back-to-school moment.

“Chief Eddie Garcia, officers from the Dallas Police Department, mounted units and emergency medical personnel from Sunnyvale responded to the scene and escorted him to his first day of kindergarten,” the spokesperson added.
