Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar, Lady Gaga, Charlie XCX, Sabrina Carpenter – the songs of these artists, among others, were included in the ranking of the 20 best songs of the year prepared by “The Guardian”. The list was released on Friday and was decided by 26 of the newspaper's music reporters.
On Friday, the editors of “The Guardian” shared a ranking of the 20 best songs of 2024. The list included both songs by well-known artists such as Beyoncé or Lady Gaga, as well as songs by lesser-known artists such as Yaeji or MJ Lenderman. The last hit of this year – “Saat” took the last place. Yaeji's song “Boobo” took 17th place. Among them were “Sex to Someone” by Clyro and “Disease” by Lady Gaga.
The best songs of 2024
The hit “Texas Hold 'Em,” which heralded Beyoncé's new album, debuted at No. 16 on the chart. Places 15 to 10: “Reckless” by Cassie Krut, “We Can't Be Friends (Waiting for Your Love)” by Ariana Grande, “Right Back to It (ft MJ Lenderman)” by Waxahatchee, “Bye Bye” Kim Gordon, “Alone” by The Cure and “Not Like Us” by Kendrick Lamar.
The song “Bikini” by Nick Leon and Eric de Cassie took the 9th place. Next up was Edison Ray's “Diet Pepsi.”

Nilufer Yanya and her song “Like I Say (I Runaway)” took the 7th place. Later, The Guardian's editorial team covered the songs “Starburster” and “Favourite” by Fountains DC. In 5th place ex aequo were two big hits of Billie Eilish, namely “Birds of a Feather” and “Afternoon Name”. “Angel of My Dreams” by Jade peaked at number 4.

The Guardian's Best Songs
The lowest place on the podium was taken by Charli XCX's hit, which was recorded in collaboration with Billie Eilish. “Let go”. Three other Charli XCX songs were also classified in the same position – “The Girl, So Confusing Version With Lorde”, “Von Dutch” and “360”. In the 2nd place “The Guardian” placed Sabrina Carpenter's hot hit with the title “Espresso”.
The British newspaper named the best song of 2024 “Good Luck, Babe!” chose Chappelle Roan performs.

The two chart-topping songs were also included in Spotify's Wrapped 2024 – the year's music summary, which was released earlier this week. We are talking about “Espresso” by Sabrina Carpenter and “Birds of a Feather” by Billie Eilish. In Spotify's chart of the most popular songs, the 25-year-old Carpenter's hit took the 1st place and Billie Eilish's song took the 3rd place.
