The Seimas received a request from the prosecutor’s office to revoke Mateusz Morawiecki’s immunity. The National Electoral Commission should prepare an explanation for the December 30 decision. Elon Musk’s spaceship lost contact with its base during its seventh test flight and disintegrated in the air. Here are six things to know on Friday, January 17.
1. Request to waive Morawiecki’s immunity
The Seimas received a request from the prosecutor’s office to waive Mateusz Morawiecki’s immunity in connection with the envelope election case. The prosecutor’s office accuses Moravecki of going beyond his authority and failing to perform the duties of the prime minister, which “led to the senseless, inefficient and unjustified spending of public funds.”
The former prime minister said he was willing to waive his immunity because he “wants to hide behind it”. He claimed that he acted according to the constitution and “the truth will defend itself”.
2. The National Electoral Commission will answer about money for PiS
The National Electoral Commission should prepare an explanation for the decision of December 30, the members of the Electoral Commission decided.
This will be the answer to the letter of the Minister of Finance Andrzej Domanski. Ryzard Balicki and Arkadiusz Pikulik prepare the drafts of the magazine. They have until January 23.
3. Musk’s ship failed the test
The Starship spacecraft lost contact with its base during its seventh test flight and disintegrated in the air. The failure occurred before the rocket engines were separated, a key phase of Thursday’s mission, which was to place simulated payloads of Starlink satellites into orbit. According to the plan, the ship would then return to Earth and crash in the Indian Ocean.
But the second time, the first stage of the “Super heavy” rocket managed to land, and the second time it was successfully caught by the hands of a mechanic.

4. Jeff Bezos’ rocket success
On Thursday, Blue Origin’s New Glenn rocket took off from Cape Canaveral, Florida. The second stage of the rocket reached the orbit and reached the long-awaited stage and the main goal of the mission.
It’s a big leap for Jeff Bezos’ company, which plans to compete with Elon Musk’s SpaceX in the space industry.
5. David Lynch is dead
Director David Lynch died at the age of 78. He created such films as “Mulholland Drive”, “Wild at Heart”, “Lost Road”, “Blue Velvet” and “Roykoob”, as well as the cult series “Twin Peaks”.
Last year, Lynch announced that he had been diagnosed with emphysema.
6. Norwegian fighters were sent to protect Polish airspace
“Two Norwegian F-35s were scrambling to defend Polish airspace,” said the commander of the combined air force. As it was added, this was a reaction to – as shown by the army – a large number of Russian units.
“This is the first time that Norwegian fighters have been deployed for the active defense of Polish airspace, which is proof of NATO’s commitment to NATO’s eastern flank,” it wrote.
