The prosecutor's office confirmed that the investigation into the murder of Jolanta Brzeska has been closed. The reason is “lack of sufficient information to justify suspicion of commission of prohibited act”.
According to the prosecutor's office, the investigation was stopped on October 28 of this year by the prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of the Gdansk region.
The trial, which has been ongoing since 2011, was related to the murder of an activist by dousing him with flammable liquid and setting him on fire. Brzeska died of heatstroke, multiple burns and carbon monoxide poisoning.
“The reason for the termination of the investigation is the lack of sufficient information to justify the suspicion of the commission of a prohibited act,” we read in the news sent to our editorial office by the Gdańsk Regional Prosecutor's Office.
Who was Jolanta Brzeska?
Jolanta Brzeska lived with her family in ul. Nabielaka 9 in Warsaw. In 2006, the building was given to the three heirs of the former owner and Marek M., who bought the claims, after the rent increased, the residents of Nabielak fell into a spiral of debt. They also chased the tenants and threatened to evict them from the house. As a result, Brzeska and other families formed the Association of Warsaw Tenants.
On March 1, 2011, Jolanta Brzeska left her home and never returned. The charred body of a woman was found in the Poussin Cultural Park and was linked to the disappearance of the activist. Identity was confirmed by autopsy.
The first investigation of this case was stopped in 2013 due to the fact that the perpetrators of this case were not revealed. As the investigators noted at the time, there are many indications that third parties are involved in the woman's death, but some of the revealed cases do not allow to completely reject the version of suicide, although it is unlikely.
