The Ministry of Migration and Asylum announced on Monday that controls at the Dutch land borders will be reintroduced from December 9 and will be in effect for six months. Earlier, other European countries reintroduced border controls.
On Monday, the Ministry of Migration and Asylum in the Netherlands announced the restoration of border controls. According to Reuters, this is part of the anti-immigration policy of the coalition government led by Geert Wilders' Freedom Party (PVV).

The checks are not expected to disrupt commercial activities or daily commutes, said Marjolene Faber, the minister of immigration and asylum.
Earlier, other European countries reintroduced border controls. – We are concerned about the increase in the number of countries that will reintroduce such controls, said Geert van Eyck from the Dutch consulting and logistics company Evofenedex, citing the Brussels Times. He mentioned that this happened to Austria, Italy, Slovenia, Norway, Denmark, Poland, Finland and Sweden.

– The big question is whether the benefit (restoration of border control – ed.) will ultimately exceed the deterioration of the competitive position of the Netherlands (…) and, above all, the deterioration of the position of Europe as a whole? said van Eyck.
