This year's Australian edition of The Voice underwent a shake-up with an almost entirely new roster of celebrity coaches, with Guy Sebastian as the only returning mentor. Season 13 saw Adam Lambert, LeAnn Rimes and Kate Miller-Heidke become the latest artists to sit in the show's famous red chair.
Yahoo Lifestyle understands that while the revamped panel will “keep the show fresh and exciting”, it's also a strategic way for management to “keep production costs in check”. According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Seven West Media faced mass job cuts last year as it “seeks to make more than $100 million in savings across its business”.

A TV source explained that Adam and Leanne are expected to “make between $750,000 and $1.2 million” this season, which is said to be “considerably less” than last year's coaches Rita Ora and Jason Derulo.

Meanwhile, Kate Miller Heidke is believed to have received “more than $500,000.”
“It's widely known that talent fees are the biggest expense on a show like this, but using stars who aren't necessarily important at the moment is a good way to cut costs,” the source explained.
According to Woman's Day, Guy initially signed a contract for $750,000 per season when he joined the show in 2019, but that figure is now believed to be as much as $1 million.

In 2022, Woman's Day magazine also reported that negotiations had stalled between the coaching staff and Seven after Guy discovered he and Jess Mauboy were being paid less than Rita Ora and Keith Urban.

“The four coaching staff are currently on significantly different salary terms and all of them, particularly Guy, believe this is unfair and unsustainable,” the magazine's source claimed at the time.
“Having been a part of this series for a while, he knows it is built on the strength and chemistry of the coaching staff. He is quietly confident that the demands of the coaching staff will be met.”
