Marcin Romanovsky announced that he “relinquished the status of a professional MP” and therefore will not receive a parliamentary fee.
The PiS lawmaker and former justice minister, who received asylum in Hungary and was under a prison sentence, said he would continue to work as an “unprofessional” lawmaker to “work for the people of Lublin region.”

2. The military prevents the arrest of the temporarily detained president
A South Korean military unit is preventing investigators from arresting the country’s interim president, Jung Suk-jeol, South Korea’s Yonhap news agency reports.
The arrest warrant was issued Tuesday by a Seoul court in connection with the president’s imposition of martial law in early December.
3. “Surreal” event in Germany
German police are investigating the case of a man who stole an excavator in the south of the country, then rammed cars and destroyed buildings for about an hour.
The excavator stopped only after the officers fired. According to the police, the man died at the scene.

4. Bodnar received information about the work of the prosecutor’s office during Ziob’s rule
The special team of the National Prosecutor’s Office sent to the Minister of Justice and Attorney General Adam Bodnar the audit report of two hundred trials conducted by Zbigniew Ziobro and his subordinates during the leadership of the Ministry of Justice.

5. Payment for a soldier who used a weapon while intoxicated
The soldier who fired at a civilian car on New Year’s Day in the city of Mielnik (Podlaski Voivodeship) fired about 70 bullets. Inside it was a man and his 13-year-old daughter. It’s a miracle nothing happened to them.
The soldier was drunk. He was charged with attempted murder and drunkenness before duty. He claims that he did not shoot to kill. His excuse was that he was freeing himself from the difficulties of serving on the border. The deputy prime minister and head of the Ministry of National Defense, Władysław Kosniak-Kamys, announced that the soldier “will be dismissed immediately”.

6. The official ceremony of launching the Polish presidency in the Council of the Union
At 8 o’clock in the evening, the ceremony of the official inauguration of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union will be held in the Grand Theater of the National Opera in Warsaw. Prime Minister Donald Tusk and President of the European Council Antonio Costa will speak at the beginning of the ceremony.
