US President Donald Trump said Mexico would not be required to pay prices on goods that fall under the commercial pact between the two countries and Canada until April 2.
Trump has not confirmed if the suspension also applies to Canada, but the commercial secretary Howard Lutnick said earlier Thursday that he hoped that the stay would apply to the two neighbors in America.
The last blow is the second climb in two days of Trump on his prices.
On Wednesday, he said that he would temporarily save car manufacturers with 25% of import taxes one day after their entry into force.
Lutnick told CNBC that the temporary exemption from prices for imports of car parts from Canada and Mexico could be extended to all products that are part of the agreement of the United States-Mexico-Canada (USMCA).
