Volodymyr Zelenskyi, the President of the Republic of Ukraine, said that Russian and North Korean forces suffered heavy losses. He said that the aggressor army lost “up to one battalion” of soldiers in the fighting on Friday and Saturday. “This is important,” he said.
– In yesterday’s and today’s battles, the Russian army lost up to the North Korean infantry battalion and the Russian paratroopers only near the village of Makhnovka (…). This is important, said Volodymyr Zelensky in his evening video speech.
The leader of Ukraine did not give details about this. A battalion can vary in size, but usually consists of several hundred soldiers, Reuters reported.
Makhnovka (Russian: ) is a village in the Kursk region of Russia.
Zelensky about the Ramstein talks. “We convince them”
The President also stated that preparations are underway for the meeting of the Contact Group on the Defense of Ukraine, which should be held on January 9 at the Ramstein Air Base. According to him, it will be attended by “partner countries (…) that will increase our capabilities not only in missile defense, but also against guided bombs and Russian aviation.”
– We will talk to them about this, we will convince them. Zelensky added that life in Ukraine needs protection here and now.
He also thanked all partners who “understand this and help develop the air shield.”
