Early last month, the head of the Polish Ministry of Defense, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamisz, was asked when the training of Ukrainian military forces in Poland would begin. The minister then replied, “We will be ready from September 1st.” However, there were not enough volunteers.

On Tuesday, Ukraineska Pravda reported that the corps would begin training by the end of the year, citing information from a recruitment center operated by the Ukrainian consulate in Lublin.
“The first volunteers will be contracted in 2024 with the Ukrainian Armed Forces, based at the center in Lublin, and will be sent to one of the training grounds in Poland for further training,” we read.
How many people have submitted applications?
By early November, it was reported that the Ukrainian Corps in Poland had received more than 500 applications from 30 countries. A month ago, the number of volunteers had been cut in half, and there were doubts about the formation of the unit. Click here for details.
“The training will not be based on the Lithuanian-Polish-Ukrainian brigade, but will be carried out by instructors from NATO member states at designated locations,” the document states.

It was noted that soldiers who require additional training in their chosen specialty will also study at other training areas.

The bilateral agreement assumes that the Ukrainian side will provide the volunteers with uniforms and medicine, while the Polish side will provide adequate infrastructure, equipment and weapons during the training period.
At present, it is unclear what proportion of the front-line equipment of the Ukrainian Corps will be occupied by Poland, or whether Warsaw will fully equip its volunteer units with equipment and weapons.

“Previously there was such an agreement with the Polish side, but in any case this issue will be finally resolved,” the representative of the center said, adding that the Ukrainian side will seek maximum support from Warsaw on this issue.
