Donald Trump's lawyer Boris Epstein wants to become Washington's special envoy on the Ukraine war and mediate between Kiev and Moscow. The New York Times reported that this information shocked everyone.
The paper said Mr. Epstein made the suggestion to Mr. Trump on the president-elect's flight to Washington for his first post-election meeting with President Joe Biden.
The NYT emphasizes that Epstein was born in Russia and lived there as a child, and points out that the lawyer has no experience in foreign policy. However, the newspaper said the lawyer said he has relatives in both Russia and Ukraine.

According to the NYT, the only person on the plane least shocked by Epstein's ideas was Trump himself, who was clearly interested in hearing about Epstein's story, even though he made no promises. Listened and did not refuse suggestions.
