Mar-a-Lago is President-elect Donald Trump's mansion in Florida. He recently spent election night there awaiting election results.
The next president's new “bodyguard”
Recently, the media noticed that there is a new guard there. According to the BBC, it's a robot dog called Spot that will help Secret Service agents protect future White House hosts. Its manufacturer is Boston Dynamics, an engineering and robotics company that makes robots for the U.S. military and civilian use. The company acknowledged that its equipment is used by the Secret Service.
The broadcaster did not respond to questions from the BBC about how the spot would be used or how long it had been brought to the president-elect's residence.
– Protecting the next president is the top priority – security spokesman Anthony Guglielmi asserts. “The robot is equipped with monitoring technology and a wide range of advanced sensors to support conservation efforts,” he added.

But as revealed by the British Radio and Television Broadcaster, Spots can patrol a wider area than humans alone. The robot can also go up and down stairs, navigate tight spaces, and even open doors.
It is also equipped with cameras and thermal sensors that generate a 3D map of its surroundings. Despite its advances, it is controlled by a human, who can control it using a joystick and specify the route it takes.
The robot dog was also used to provide security for the NATO summit in Washington in July. On this occasion, the Secret Service released a one-minute video about the new equipment. She boasted about the explosives detectors that robot dogs can carry and announced new updates to the technology.
