On Sunday, the first recording with Pope Francis appeared on TikTok. The church president’s on-stage debut comes at a time of confusion about the application in the United States.
On Sunday, TikTok users were able to see the first video featuring Pope Francis made specifically for the Chinese platform. In this way, the head of the church is promoting his autobiography, “Hope,” which was published in dozens of countries around the world early last week.

In the recording released by Mondadori Publishing House, the Pope appears seated in an armchair, holding a book while addressing website users. In a 40-second speech, he thanked the work’s co-author, Carlo Musso, and flipped through the book.
At the end of the recording, Francis asked the audience to pray and promised to repay them in kind.
TikTok’s turnaround in the US
Francis’ TikTok debut comes at a time of confusion about the app in the United States. On Sunday morning Polish time, TikTok announced that it would suspend operations in the United States in accordance with legislation passed by Congress. Shortly after, Donald Trump intervened in the case.

The president-elect has said he wants TikTok to be able to cover Monday’s presidential inauguration and promised to issue an order to ensure TikTok is not affected if it decides to resume operations in the United States.
Following President Trump’s statement, the platform issued an official message thanking President Trump for his intervention and declaring that it had begun the process of restoring services in the United States.
