The first information about the Ternovska Dam explosion appeared on social media on Monday morning. These reports were confirmed by the local military governor, Romain Padun, in an interview with Saspirne Portal.
– We know that water is currently flowing into villages near the dam. However, it is not possible to determine the nature of the damage. Padun also said inspections could not be carried out due to constant shelling, stressing that the area was under constant attack by Kremlin forces.

On Tuesday, a video of the dam's destruction was posted online. Ukraine's TSN television posted a recording taken by a drone. It shows a strong explosion occurring from inside the fortress, as evidenced by the shockwave that spread throughout the tank.
The video also shows two people running away from the explosion scene.

It is unknown who was responsible for the dam explosion. The head of the Donetsk military junta, Vadim Filashkin, accused the Russians of destroying infrastructure east of the Krahov artificial reservoir.
Two Russian bloggers, Yuri Kotienok and Boris Rosin, and Ukrainian journalist Andriy Kapriyenko, did not rule out the possibility that the Ukrainian military was responsible for the explosion. Kiev forces could aim to take control of the river valley by flooding nearby areas, which would make it more difficult for the enemy to maneuver in the area.
The Krachowe Reservoir was created to supply electricity to a nearby power plant. The American Wall Street Journal reports that Ukrainian authorities are planning to liquidate the power plant because it is located right next to the front lines, and the parts they obtain will be used at other power plants. He pointed out that it would be used for repairing. This decision was made when the Russians blew up a bridge carrying the coal needed to power the power plant.
