The Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons reports that tear gas has been used on battlefields in Ukraine. The use of this drug in hostilities is prohibited by international convention.
The Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) said on Monday that traces of tear gas were found in samples taken last month at the front line with Russia in the Dnepropetrovsk region of central-eastern Ukraine.
Ukraine called for an investigation into the matter. The organization sent a team there, but the team had no authority to hold them accountable;
Ukraine and the United States said Russia illegally used tear gas to clear the trenches, authorities wrote.

The OPCW team examined digital files, examined first-hand eyewitness accounts, and tested three samples taken from trenches along the Russian front lines.

According to the Reuters website, analysis of samples by two independent laboratories found that both Garnet taken from the trench and a soil sample taken from the black spray next to it contained riot control agent 2, known as CS. – It was shown that it contained chlorobenzylidenemalononitrile.
The use of agents such as tear gas as a means of war is prohibited by the Chemical Weapons Convention overseen by the OPCW.
The 193 OPCW member states will meet in The Hague next week.
