Cardinal Kazimierz Nicz is no longer the metropolitan archbishop of Warsaw. Pope Francis appointed the current Metropolitan of Katowice, Adrian Jozef Galbas, to this position.
On Monday, the Apostolic Nunciature in Poland announced the acceptance of the resignation of Cardinal Kazimierz Nicz from the service of the Metropolitan Archbishop of Warsaw and the appointment of the current Metropolitan of Katowice, Adrian Jozef Galba.
“Regarding the candidacy of Archbishop Adrian Galbas as Metropolitan Archbishop of Warsaw, I would like to inform you that until he canonically takes over the newly created archdiocese, he will hold the post of administrator of the Katowice Archdiocese. the canon takes over this responsibility. The Archdiocese of Warsaw, the College of Advisers of the Archdiocese of Katowice, will appoint a new administrator, who will hold his position until the appointment of a new bishop of the diocese,” said Rafal Bogacki, the spokesman of the Archdiocese of Katowice.
