Those who visit both small and large cemeteries have to face similar problems. – I remind you that today the organization of movement around cemeteries is different. North Cemetery is a municipal cemetery managed by the Municipal Cemetery Board. Covering an area of 143 hectares, it is the largest cemetery in Warsaw and one of the largest cemeteries in Europe. The site of the cemetery was designated in the 1960s on the northern edge of the city and partly in the town of Wólka Wólka (hence the common name “Cmentarz na Wólka”). The cemetery was opened in 1973, and until today almost 180,000 people have been buried here.
