A tragic incident happened on Friday after 17:00 near the intersection of Ordona and Jana Kazimierza streets, a white bus driver who crossed the pedestrian crossing hit a 14-year-old boy. As a result of his injuries, the boy died in the hospital. The driver fled the scene. He was arrested by Wola officers on Saturday evening.
“He did not hide his surprise”
– This man was arrested in Ursinowi district of Warsaw. He is Polish, 43 years old. He is notorious when it comes to police records. He had multiple convictions for various types of crimes, Deputy Commissioner Jacek Wisniewski of the Warsaw Police Department said during a press briefing on Sunday.
This man recently worked for one of the courier companies.
– He did not hide his surprise when he was arrested. He was drunk. Almost two parts per million of alcohol were recorded in his body. Now this man is in police custody, – Deputy Commissioner Vishnevsky added.
Trial events involving the detainees were scheduled for Sunday. Evidence will be handed over to the prosecutor’s office in the next few hours.
– Most likely, he will be charged on Monday, – said Petr Antony Skiba, the spokesman of the Warsaw district prosecutor’s office.
The arrested person has other crimes on his record
Assistant Commissioner Vishnevsky emphasized that the arrest is the result of the intensive work of the police officers of the Vola police station and the employees of the search and identification department of the capital. He noted that the response of the residents to the appeal of the police to the witnesses of the accident and people who have the registration of the suspect’s car was very helpful in the arrest.
– The methodical work of the police took them to the place where the car was left, – Vishnevsky added. The police officer said that the car was not directly at the place where the 43-year-old man was arrested.
Wishnevsky explained that the detainees committed crimes “in violation of the law on drug addiction and in the sphere of life and health.”
In 2023, the arrested driver should have been deprived of his driver’s license until 2027. When asked about this at the briefing, Assistant Commissioner Wisniewski replied that “it has to be confirmed.”
