Jewelry and watches worth more than one million zlotys were delivered to the customs and tax office in Warsaw. Valuables were smuggled from Dubai and seized at Chopin airport.
Officers of the Customs and Tax Service of the Masovia Customs and Tax Office (MUCS) in Warsaw investigated two passengers who were behaving suspiciously at Chopin Airport.
Trading in the farthest toilet
According to the National Tax Administration, the tourist who came from Dubai went to the end of the arrivals hall and entered the farthest toilet. Another person was waiting for him there. The toilet was a place to “exchange” exclusive goods that were not declared at customs.
Tax officials checked the observed persons. In the underwear of one of them, they found two famous brand watches and jewelry.
Packages with certificates of watch and jewelry manufacturers were found in the traveler’s second luggage.
Watches and jewelry worth a million zlotys
The value of watches and jewelry is estimated at more than PLN 1.1 million. The loss of the state treasury due to unpaid customs duties and value added tax (VAT) amounts to more than PLN 290,000.
Tourists were arrested. Watches and jewelry were deposited.
