Heavy snowfall in Bosnia and Herzegovina left thousands of homes without power on Tuesday. Traffic was severely disrupted and some cities were cut off from the world. It is also declining significantly in Serbia.
Snow covered most of the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the most difficult situation in the north and northwest. In some places, piles of snow reached a height of about two meters.
During the heavy rain, roads were completely closed, including in the town of Drvar, located in northwestern Bosnia and Herzegovina. On the night from Monday to Tuesday, dozens of cars were stuck under the snow for many hours. Early Tuesday morning, everyone was able to leave.
The movement of trucks is prohibited on the main roads. Officials urged people to avoid travel and warned that fallen trees could block roads.
Thousands of homes without electricity
Two power companies reported that more than 170,000 households, mainly in the northern and western parts of the country, were left without power due to malfunctioning power lines.
Rail traffic has been suspended in the areas most affected by the snowstorm.

Forecasters have warned that by Thursday there will be more snow than has been seen in years. Orange and yellow weather warnings are in effect across the country.
Red alert in Serbia
Snow, which has been falling continuously since Monday, has also caused serious problems on roads across Serbia. The snow storm, among other things, brought the drivers of the capital Belgrade.
The meteorological service announced a red alert in western Serbia.
