TheHealthsite.com spoke to Dr. Abhijit Bose of the Asian Heart Institute, Mumbai, who suggested the following lifestyle changes that can help in mitigating liver disease or preventing its onset:
Improving diet, quitting alcohol, exercising regularly, and losing weight have been shown to be effective in reducing both NAFLD and cardiovascular disease risk.
Targeting the underlying metabolic abnormalities through pharmacological therapies such as insulin sensitizers and lipid-lowering drugs may also benefit the cardiovascular system in patients with NAFLD.

Why is it important to change your diet to alleviate liver disease? Unhealthy, overly processed, foods high in trans fats, saturated fats and sugar are very bad for your liver. If you consume too many of these foods, over time, your liver and body will not be able to break down these calories and fats. These start to build up around the organs, causing fatty liver disease. Similarly, if you drink too much alcohol or other drinks high in toxins, your liver will not function optimally. These toxins are not flushed out and stay in the bloodstream, causing diseases such as cancer. Regular exercise is important because it also helps flush some of the toxins from your body through sweat, which boosts your metabolism and blood circulation and ensures optimal functioning of your organs. Proper diet and exercise will automatically help you lose weight, thereby preventing any kind of liver disease.
