When preparing for your fantasy football draft, it's important to know which players to target and which players to avoid. The amount of information available can be overwhelming, so a great way to condense the data and determine which players to draft and which to leave to their leaguemates is to use our expert consensus fantasy football rankings compared to the fantasy football average draft position (ADP). This way, you can identify which players the experts are willing to take at their ADP and which players they won't draft until much later than average. Let's take a closer look at a few notable fantasy football players below that experts avoid in the draft:

Fantasy Football Draft Outlook
Josh Jacobs (GB)
If you were worried that Josh Jacobs would follow up his nearly 400-touch season in 2022 with another lackluster season last year, your fears were realized. Jacobs played in just 13 games (he tore his quad in Week 13) and during his time on the road, it was as if someone had sucked his tackle-busting ability through a straw. Jacobs was a different player than the one who ranked 18th in yards per touch, 13th in yards gained per touch and second in tackles avoided in 2022. Last season, Jacobs was 12th in blocking percentage while lagging behind at 37th in missed forced tackles per attempt and 44th in yards after contact per attempt (per Fantasy Points Data). Jacobs could be this season's Rachel White. He has mediocre tackle-breaking stats but is an elite role back heading into an RB1 season, though it's not out of the question that Marshawn Lloyd could play a much bigger role this season than many expect, and Jacobs is a shaky RB2.

Nick Chubb (CLE)
Chubb's 2023 season was cut short in Week 2 due to a gruesome injury, and while I don't want to say Chubb is at a disadvantage to be a meaningful contributor in 2024, it won't be a cakewalk. Chubb will enter his age-29 season, and while he'll remain with the Browns (on a pay cut), it's tough to expect him to be anything more than a dart-throwing RB3 in 2024.
