As one World Congress concludes in Paris, another is about to begin in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
The Little League World Series will be held for the third time since changing to a 20-team tournament, with 10 teams from the United States and 10 from around the world competing to close out the summer with a chance to etch their name in Little League lore.
Find out which 20 teams will be heading to Williamsport, the full 2024 Little League World Series schedule and more.
When is the 2024 Little League World Series?
The Little League World Series begins on Wednesday, August 14th and concludes on Sunday, August 25th.
In addition to the final on August 25th, there will be several other notable events throughout the 12-day tournament.
The New York Yankees and Detroit Tigers will face off in the MLB Little League Classic at Historic Bowman Field on Sunday, August 18, the Little League Home Run Derby will be held on Thursday, August 22 and a Challenger Division exhibition game will be played on Saturday, August 24.
Where will the 2024 Little League World Series be held?
Williamsport is set to host the 2024 tournament, as it has done for every previous Little League World Series.
The tournament will be held at two adjacent venues, Howard J. Lamade Stadium and Volunteer Stadium.
Lamade Stadium will be the site of all games between U.S. teams, two games between international teams, the third-place game and the Little League World Series Final. Volunteer Stadium will be the site of all other matchups between international teams and the Little League Home Run Derby.
What channel will the Little League World Series be on?
All games will be broadcast on ESPN, ESPN2 or ABC. Games will also be streamed on Watch ESPN and the ESPN app.
What will the format of the 2024 Little League World Series be?
The Little League World Series introduced a 20-team bracket in 2022, but it's not as tidy as the previous 16-team bracket.
The US side has added metro and mountain regions, but the international side is a bit more complicated.
Cuba, Panama and Puerto Rico are currently in a rotation where two teams receive automatic berths and the other competes in their own regional tournament. Cuba and Puerto Rico earned automatic berths in the 2024 tournament, but Panama competed as part of the Latin America region and did not qualify for Williamsport.
In the Little League World Series, not all teams start in the same position as part of a 20-team bracket: four teams on each side of the bracket play extra games, and the other two teams on each side must wait for the results of those games to determine their first opponent.
From there, the tournament will play out in a double-elimination format with a U.S. Final and an International Final, with the winners of those two games competing for the LLWS title.
