The painting refers to the story of Dagmar Overby, a serial infant killer who was sentenced to death in 1921. – I didn't know about this story until now. It was producer Marlene Blenkov and co-screenwriter Line Langebeck who made me aware of her existence. Reading about Dagmar, I felt a deep fear. My children were young at the time and I started to worry that something bad would happen to them. I decided to use this fear as creative fuel by translating it into a film. Besides, I had long dreamed of making a horror film, and suddenly such an opportunity presented itself. Admittedly, at first I thought it would be a horror movie, but in a movie I'm most interested in the characters. I liked the fact that we were able to create a story that intertwined drama and horror, von Horn said.

– We talk about how oppressive societies work, where people are stripped of their right to choose. For me, it's very important to introduce this film here. It will have the strongest impact on Polish audiences. I hope it sparks a discussion. In Poland, the issue of abortion laws is still very new. Governments have changed, but regulations have not. The question is how long to wait for change. It's scary that the conditions we live in are becoming the norm. This movie may remind us of the current situation by presenting exaggerated images, because it's all about the costumes. It works like science fiction. We go to another era to tell us something about the present. That's how I feel about our film, the director concluded.

The film tells the story of cousins David (Jesse Eisenberg) and Benji (Kieran Culkin) who travel to Poland together to mourn their beloved grandmother. They will visit Warsaw, Lublin and Krasnysztau. Polish creators also participated in the production of the film: Michał Dimek was in charge of cinematography, Mela Melak was in charge of set design, and Ewa Puszczynska was also one of the producers.
Eisenberg made a partially autobiographical film about a sentimental trip to Poland. – Chopin's music is written into every scene of the script, so the entire movie is in Polish. All scenes were shot here except for two car shots, which were shot in New York. Scenes showing New York's JFK Airport were also filmed at Radom's airport. I'm honored that the country has allowed me to do this, the director said. He explained that the house that the main characters visit in the movie is the house where his grandmother lived. He emphasized that a large part of the film is about his life. – Every place is important in my family's history – he explained.
