AUSVEG, the national peak industry body for Australian vegetable, potato and onion growers, will be exhibiting at this year's Asia Fruit Logistica alongside 12 other Australian export producers.
AUSVEG is the grower-owned organisation for the growers who produce one third of Australia's horticulture output – vegetable production accounts for $5.8 billion of the total horticultural output of $16.3 billion.
The Asia Fruit Logistica delegation will be displaying a range of Australian vegetables including carrots, onions, potatoes, Brussels sprouts, celery, baby salad leaves, baby broccolini, pumpkin, swede squash, shallots and melon.
Developing export markets is a key priority for AUSVEG, with the organisation working with Australian export farmers and overseas customers to provide the skills and networks to supply high-quality fresh vegetables to international markets. Singapore, UAE and Malaysia remain the top three export destinations for Australian vegetable exporters, and AUSVEG sees opportunities to further develop Asian and ASEAN markets, which is an ongoing priority for the Australian industry.
“Asia Fruit Logistica serves as a key platform for Australian vegetable growers to connect with suppliers and buyers across Asia and around the world,” AUSVEG CEO Michael Coote said. “Exhibiting at the AFL not only gives our growers and members market exposure to customers across Asia and around the world, it also boosts trade outcomes.”
AUSVEG will also be leading a delegation of Australian producers on a market research tour on the eve of Asia Fruit Logistica, visiting various retail outlets, wet markets and cold chain facilities around Hong Kong.
AUSVEG has been exhibiting at Asia Fruit Logistica for over 10 years and this year their booth will be located within the Australian Pavilion, carrying the Australian national brand. AUSVEG's presence at the exhibition is in partnership with Melons Australia as part of a multi-industry export program funded by Hort Innovation using research and development levies and grants for vegetables, onions and melons from the Australian Government.
Exhibiting at the fair is an extension of AUSVEG's ongoing trade development programme, which saw 40 fruit and vegetable buyers from key export markets in the Asia Pacific and Middle East visit Australia on a trade mission in June to build business relationships with local horticultural farmers.
AUSVEG will be exhibiting at Asia Fruit Logistica in Hall 3 3R20.
