JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – A hospital here in the East is being recognized nationally for its accessibility to care.
Onslow Memorial Hospital received an “A” rating for excellence in health equity in the Lown Institute Hospital Social Responsibility Index for 2024-25. The hospital earned the ranking among more than 3,500 hospitals nationwide for its outstanding performance in community contributions, pay equity and comprehensiveness of services, according to the announcement.
The hospital was ranked sixth out of 77 hospitals in North Carolina by Lowndes' equity criteria.
“Our mission is to provide excellent patient care in a healing, family-centered environment, which means we must partner with our patients to find ways to reduce disparities and increase access to quality care,” said Dr. Penny Burlingame Deal, hospital CEO and president. “This recognition reflects our commitment to equity, inclusion and the health of our community, and we are incredibly grateful to receive this recognition.”
The Lone Hospital Social Responsibility Index ranks hospitals based on the care they provide in light of collected data and annual evaluations.
