WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – The National Hurricane Center's forecast cone for Ernesto indicates tropical storm conditions are likely for much of the Northern Caribbean through midweek, with hurricane conditions possible for Bermuda by the weekend.Ernesto's swells may increase the risk of rip currents for all Cape Fear and Carolina beaches this weekend and into this weekend, so keep an eye out for flags.
On the freshwater side, flooded river levels in the Cape Fear region are expected to have peaked or will peak by midweek and then slowly drop over the weekend. Rainfall chances may not be zero, but they should drop significantly over the next few days, aiding in the recovery trend. High temperatures are expected to be comfortable in the 80s Fahrenheit each day during this period, with overnight hours in the 60s and 70s Fahrenheit.
