Netflix has acquired streaming rights in Southeast Asia to Thai box office smash hit “How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies,” which is set to premiere on September 12.
The streamer added that the film will be available in more countries later this year.
“How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies” topped the domestic box office and became the highest-grossing Thai film of all time in several countries, including Indonesia, Singapore, the Philippines, Malaysia and Myanmar.
M, a young man driven by the desire to inherit a multi-million dollar fortune, decides to live with his terminally ill grandmother in order to care for her.
The role of M will be played by popular singer and actor Puttipong Asaratanakul (also known as Birkin), while the grandmother will be played by relative newcomer Usha Seemkum. In Thai, the film's title is “Lahn Mah,” which means “Grandma's Grandson.”
Produced by GDH 559, “How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies” is written by Thodsapon Thiptinnakorn and Pat Boonnitipat.
The film marks Bonitipat's directorial debut as a feature film and the first leading roles for Birkin and Usha.
The cast also includes Sanya Kunnakorn, Salinrat Thomas, Pongsathorn Jongwirath, Duangpong Oapirat, Himawari Tajiri and Tongtawan Tantivejakul.
