After watching the opening four games of the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday, it's now South Shore's turn to take to the field.
Coach Bob Laterza's club, the Metro Region champions, will open the tournament on Thursday (August 15, 2024) at 3:00 PM ET against Mountain Region champion Nevada.
If you're not one of the lucky fans who can make it to Williamsport, you can watch the game on ESPN. If you don't have cable, you can watch it on fuboTV, which is geared towards sports fans. There are three other World Series games available to watch on FuboTV today: Japan vs. Puerto Rico at 1 p.m., Cuba vs. EuroAfrica at 5 p.m., and the Southwest Region vs. Mid-Atlantic Region game at 7 p.m.

South Shore comes into today's game with a 17-2 record and will have left-handed ace Steven Grippo on the mound. The Islanders will likely face Nevada ace Wyatt Erickson, who threw a no-hitter with 10 strikeouts in the regional championship game.
South Shore has won District 24, Section 3 South, NYS and the Metro Regional and is coming here looking to become just the second Island team to win the World Series — Mid-Island won 60 years ago in 1964. Laterza's team is the seventh team from the Island to reach the World Series.

Little League has been hosting this major event in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania, since 1947. This year, 20 teams, 10 from the U.S., including South Shore Little League of Staten Island, and 10 from overseas, will compete for the overall championship on Sunday, August 25, 2024. The tournament kicked off on Wednesday, August 14, 2024.
