New York's defense has deep rotation depth, which has coach Ed Simier bullish on the Jets, who travel to Charlotte to face the inexperienced Panthers in an exhibition game on Saturday.

Following a controversial joint practice, the New York Jets will take on the Carolina Panthers in a preseason showdown on Saturday night.
The Jets defeated the Panthers 27-0 in last year's preseason, but Carolina enters the game as slight favorites in the NFL odds.
Either way, my Jets vs Panthers prediction breaks down why New York has the advantage in this exhibition matchup. Let's take a look at my free NFL predictions for August 17th.

My Analysis
Both teams enter Saturday's game with more injuries than would normally be expected during the preseason, and Thursday's joint practice between the New York Jets and Carolina Panthers featured a number of violent scuffles and violent plays, along with several scuffles.
Still, some players are expected to sit out: The Jets aren't going to risk Aaron Rodgers at his age, and the Panthers have made it clear that Bryce Young won't play in the exhibition games.
Both teams will have their backup quarterbacks practice, which could mean more time for Tyrod Taylor in New York and Andy Dalton in Carolina, though the Panthers may place more emphasis on the battle for the third quarterback spot between Jack Plummer and Jake Luton.
As always, the Jets have been tough defensively in the preseason, and New York not only has more defensive depth than any other team in the NFL, but it also has several players who have already performed well and are hoping to make the roster.
That includes Jarick Bernard-Converse, who was a key cornerback in last weekend's win over the Washington Commanders, while former elite prospect Leonard Taylor III is eyeing a spot at defensive tackle.
The Jets will also be looking at a battle for depth at wide receiver and running back, and with Taylor likely leading the offense for the majority of the game, New York will have an experience advantage against a very young Panthers defense.
New York dominated this matchup last year, but there's nothing to suggest a dramatic turnaround a year later. I'd bet the Jets will win for sure.
