SAN FRANCISCO — Trending searches among Pinterest users suggest the fall decorating outlook is focused on serenity, coziness and calming colors.
The Fall 2024 report found that “cozy fall vibes” grew 90% on Pinterest, led by searches for cozy sunrooms (up 930%), cozy lighting (up 200%), and cozy reading nooks (up 140%). Also trending within the cozy category were candle bouquets (up 720%), dreamy artwork (up 680%), and floral room aesthetics (up 370%).
Green, blue and purple hues are all part of the soothing palette, and “green home décor” saw a significant increase from May to June this year, up 2,670% year-on-year.
Other color-related searches that saw significant increases on Pinterest between June 2023 and June 2024 were sage and blue color palettes (up 570%), moody purple bedrooms (up 350%), dark green bathrooms (up 350%) and blue and cream bedrooms (up 200%).
Also fitting into the tranquil theme are searches relating to Japan and Zen-style living: “Zen home” tops the list, up 405%, but Japanese vintage art (up 270%), Japanese futon bedrooms (up 245%) and Japanese living room designs (up 135%) are also popular.
According to Pinterest research, interest in Japanese culture has spilled over into other categories like food, hobbies and fashion, with searches for deconstructed sushi bowls up 370%, as well as increases in Japanese books (up 100%), Japanese crocheted bags (up 380%), Japanese side bangs (up 1,645%) and Japanese long-skirt outfits (up 85%).
