Coinbase, a leading U.S.-based cryptocurrency trading platform, has announced a $15,000 grant program to promote decentralized applications (DApps) built with artificial intelligence (AI).
In a new blog post, Coinbase said it is launching the Coinbase Developer Platform (CDP) AI Builder program to solve common problems related to automated DApp and blockchain development.
“A big barrier to building useful AI-powered applications is the inability of AI agents to get a bank account to send and receive automated payments.
Building on-chain solves this problem. Using Coinbase's MPC (multi-party computation) wallet, AI agents can send and receive USDC payments on Base for free, and even earn yield on their USDC wallet balances.”
Coinbase's MPC wallet is a programmable and secure cryptocurrency wallet controlled by an API (Application Programming Interface).
The grant aims to award $3,000 each to three projects building AI bots using Coinbase's MPC wallet.
In a new post on social media platform X, Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong said he envisions a world where AI agents can make payments for goods and services.
“Large language models (LLMs) require crypto wallets. Let AI agents do the work for you and participate in the economy…Side note: all checkout experiences will need to support shopping by AI agents in the near future.”
